Elk Hunt Oct. 2008 - Part 1

The hunt officially started on Conference Saturday. Eric, Dad, and myself got a few hours in before the first session and got rained out. It was cold, wet, and miserable. So for me, Monday was the real first day of the hunt. Padre and me spent the whole day out in the mountains. No Luck today. We saw a few off in the distance, tracked a few. Saw some bear tracks and took several naps, but no spike elks in sight. Don't expect high quality pics from me. I only have a small Canon Powershot S230 with 3.2 megapixels. Back in its day it was top of the line. But is awesome because its compact and lightweight. Enjoy!!! Sunrise Stealth hunter Bear Claw Dad snoozing Check back for updates!!!

At least Dad was sleeping with his gun nearby.

This site is a meadow with a natural spring. Which mostly attracts the moo cows. Well, we were both napping and were waken by stomping nearby. We quickly sprung to our feet with rifles in hand and scanned the area. We were hoping for an elk, but only found a cow who got spooked by some unknown source. That was the end of that nap. Our brief excitement kept us from napping, atleast for about another hour or so.

At first, I thought that last picture was the bear who made those tracks.
